Step 1: First, you must have ‘Topaz Clean 3’ plug-in to work on.

When you want to make these types of .gifs, it’s usually best to use a type of b&w coloring. Also there are several ways to do this but I’m just going to be showing you one way since it’s simple.

1. Once you have your .gif done, have your coloring on top.

2. Make a new layer, the new layer should be under your coloring:

3. Make sure that the Foreground Color is black and select the Bucket Tool:

4. Now on the the New Layer, fill in with the bucket tool:

Your .gif should look like this when you filled in with black:

5. Now take the the eraser tool, having the new layer selected, erase around the person (You can lower the opacity to see the person and where you need to erase):

This is so you can see how it looks like:

With the coloring:

6. Now take the brush tool.

7. Select the first frame layer and the layer and start filling in the parts around the body. It should look like this:

8. Repeat step 7 until your done with your entire .gif

I got this question awhile back and it took me a while to write this out.

Download videos that only come in HQ. Which means when you click the quality button on YouTube, it should look like this.

Use video downloading sites that allow you to have the video in HD.

I personally use KeepVid. All you need to do is paste the video URL in the box above and hit “download”. A box on up-top your browser will ask you to run the flash click ‘always’.

Then you’ll come to a page like this, click what I circled. Or, there might be a 1080 option, click it, your video will download.

When it’s done downloading go to Photo shop and click: File>import>video frames to layers.

In the search bar, type *.* and click enter, select your video.

Make your setting like this, then choose what part of the video you’re going to gif, by pressing shift, while selecting it. cick ok.

If you need to delete frames/layers of things you don’t want to gif, you hit the trash can icon in the layers & frame section!

Crop your gif, and change the speed to 00.1 or 00.2, it dosen’t go too fast or too slow.

Add a nice PSD! If you’re giffing dark frames, use a bright PSD & if you’re giffing light frames, use pretty colors. I’ll be using this PSD & the BNW option on it.

Apply your PSD on top of all your .gif layers, then do this. It will make it so your GIF is a smaller file size, you can now delete all the layers named ‘Layer 1, 2,3 +’ & the PSD you used.

*Note: Your frames will have the PSD coloring on it, not covering it.

Download this action and open it in Photoshop. You now need to go to the first frame on your gif and select the first layer. Then see how many frames you have. I have 27, but the action only goes up to 25, so I’m going to have to sharpen some on my own. If you have >25, that’s good.

Click the number of frames you have in the action palate, and press play. This will automatically sharpen all your .gif layers.

Saving your GIF

Go to File> save for web & devices. I make the left sidebar look like this. You need to check the lower right hand corner and see if your size limit is over 1.0. If it looks like this, you might need to go back and delete a few layers. UNLESS your .gid is black & white. You can change the colors down to 16 or 32 :)

This was my final result for my .GIF file. Here is a .PSD for better understanding of what I did. Hope this helps! Have any questions, leave me a message.

Okay so as you all now I’m really new at this psd thingy and I’m still learning how things work, so if you feel like you have some tip that might help me then hit me! I’ll love to read them! Now about this special psd, if you are a TVD fan then you probably know what a misery it is to color this show, so I decided to make a psd only for its darkest scenes, the ones that are harder to color. Please note, this is a psd ONLY for dark caps, it will look like shit if you try it on light ones. Feel free to mess with the layers, adjust them as you like but please don’t repost. Remember, every cap is different so you probably will have to adjust this as your liking.
